I’ve got a few Wychwood bits of gear now and I’ve been very pleased with them all, so when Santa delivered a new Wychwood Bankman Bag for Christmas I was very happy.
I fish small lakes and reservoirs from the bank and boat so needed something that was light enough to carry whilst also giving enough space for all my gear and lunch when on the boat. This bag fits the bill perfectly. It has enough space for all my normal gear plus extras with four external pockets for the bits and bobs I need easy access to and internal pockets as well. It’s shower proof as it comes but also has a built in rain cover which folds out of a pocket on the back. It has fittings to attach two rod holders on the top which is handier than I thought, especially for reservoirs where its useful to have a sinking and floating line set-up or, for the summer, a lighter-weight floating line for dries as well as my normal 7-weight.
I’ve not had a chance to use it in a boat yet but I was pleased to find it has a two-inch hard base on the bottom which should keep the main part of the bag out of the water that always seems to gather in a boat.
It’s a great, practical bag which has clearly been well-designed by, or at least with, fisherman.
